driven
I’m driven to greatness
with plant to claim my power
leaving mediocrity behind
he drives me
like an accelerator when going uphill
and a push
when I’ve run out of gas
a “go getter”
I work harder
I stand taller
I smile brighter
for him
because I’m driven
sometimes I wonder
what it would be like
to rest
for just a moment
may.be an hour
no more than a month
to rest along side you

I can see why they say it
similarities
common bonds
being like minded
all the time we spent
free like birds
soaring
soaking in the sun
chirping in code
it’s like we had our own species
then you molted

I’ve been told that I have it
& at times I could have sworn that I felt it
but the hard truth
is that sometimes it just isn’t enough
