behind the times

maybe I’ve never talked about it; but I’m not really much of a tv person.  I’ve had shows that I would follow at one point in time or another but when I stop to think about it chances are someone else turned the box on.

trust
nothing I
have to watch”

. . . yeah, for the bulk of my single life I’ve watched considerably less television than the average American.  that’s not the point of this post.  I decided to upgrade my cable and get a movie channel (I’m not hooked yet so no endorsements here).  well the guy came in and installed it and it worked fine; but then we decided to watch a movie . . . . hunh the DVD player isn’t working.  so I pull the tv out and look at the back and both the DVD and yes VCR (it’s never used but I bought it for videos that the girls stopped watching probably the day after I bought it) are both unplugged.  my television is older, it’s big and it only has enough plugs for one thing and the cable guy being who he is made that one thing the box.

1. why in the H*!! didn’t he bother to tell me this while he was here???????
2. and why can’t I get it to work now, just to watch cable???

okay, I’m pretty tech savvy and setting up a tv is not rocket science but I can’t get this thing to work for anything and I’ve even gone the old school route of turning everything off and turning it back on 0, zip, zilch, nada.  I’ve got nothing but a snowy screen and a television that clearly needs to be replaced by something wider and much thinner that has a bunch of plug spaces in the back for all my equipment (even the old stuff) . . . the more I think about it the more wisdom I see in my Grandma’s words “… don’t trust nothing you have to watch”  alright, it is a bit extreme; but man I really wanted to sit down and watch the premium movie channel that I’m paying for.  :[
