the day after Christmas I can definitely say that all things worked out just as planned. my girls were surprised by all their gifts (that were supposed to be surprises) we had a very happy and uneventful day followed by a delicious dinner and a great nights sleep.
for some
reason
I want
a cup of
coffee, I
don’t own a
coffee maker . . .this morning I awoke to the sounds of birds (for some reason I was crazy enough to crack my bedroom window, and for a brief moment I had hopes of temperatures that would help to melt the ice gets my car stuck every time I try to get in to or out of my garage (I am not a happy camper about this).
what I have learned is that it is difficult to pull out the camera on days like this. I’m too busy living it to take the time to preserve it. this is probably why my photo albums are filled with pieces of my every day life and little from those special occasions. I don’t care for poses and the idea of getting dressed up just to sit around with people that I’m related to just doesn’t feel like right. don’t get me wrong, I love any good reason to look “cute” but for present opening early on Christmas morning, it’s not going to happen. my gift is being able to stay in bed or go back to bed at my leisure. but one of the coolest things that Santa brought me was a pancake griddle. okay it’s just a griddle but I can only see myself really using it for pancakes which I love dearly but haven’t made for years because none of my pans heat that evenly. I stumbled across the blog of joy the baker and man has she got a thing for pancakes, it was her pic of carrot cake pancakes that kept me diving throughout her blog and it’s safe to say that sometime soon I’m going to give them a shot.
so there you have it, I had a beautiful Christmas. my daughters are very happy (not a single gift has been broken as of yet) and my family is well, what more could anyone ask for?
